The reason they put a Hospital Bed in every single hospital, is that no matter what you are in the Hospital for, when you elevate the back and the legs into a reclining position, your whole body weight gets evenly supported - and you do not have to relieve the pressure off your shoulders and hips every 15 minutes - and you can usually sleep comfortably all night long.
WHEN you have a Flat Bed, since your BODY is not flat (you curve OUT at the Head, Shoulders, Hips and Heels; and curve IN at the Neck, Lower Back and before the Heels), you will get PRESSURE and STRAIN building up on your Head, Shoulders, Hips and Heels. This will make you toss and turn every 15 minutes on a Flat Bed. When you can Contour or Recline your body, since your whole body weight is evenly supported, you don't have to toss and turn, and can sleep comfortable, hopefully, the whole night.
