We
inner-tuft the top 3 layers of material (underneath the 4th quilted layer)
to the springs, on both sides of the mattress. The innerspring is heat
treated twice (tempered steel) and is individually hinged every 3.5" for
perfect
bending.

888 Innerspring Adjustable Bed Mattress Firmnesses
We create the different firmnesses in the 888 innerspring mattress by adding foam rails that extend the entire with of the spring. There are three available firmnesses: Regular Firm, Extra Firm and Ultra Firm.
We use 1.25" thick and 5" high foam rails in between the rows of springs to increase firmness and side support to the mattress. The innerspring on all mattresses is the Leggett & Platt 330 coil count dual offset unit that is the best innerspring available for an adjustable bed mattress. All mattresses are inner-tufted for additional durability and support. All are fully reversible.
The regular firm mattress does not use any foam rails supports, the extra-firm uses 5 foam rail supports evenly space from the end caps of the innerspring and the ultra firm uses seven foam rail supports giving the mattress two addition center supports.
The foam rails are 1.4 pound density and have an ILD of 44. Since all firmnesses of the same size mattress use the same innerspring, there will not be any variation in height and length between different firmnesses.
