Bed |
For whatever health or medical conditions, Hospital Beds can
be the most comfortable piece of furniture in your home.
Hospital Beds ( )come
standard with two motors: one that elevates the back; and one that elevates
the legs. The Hospital
Bed comes standard with either a vinyl covered innerspring mattress or
polyurethane foam mattresses. Medicare will pay for these semi-electric
hospital beds. If you can afford an Adjustable Bed you will get a better
looking bed with a more comfortable mattress, but
Adjustable Beds are not
covered by Medicare.
Hospital Beds come with many options. The first option ia the 3rd motor: the High-Low Motor. This allows you to electrically elevate the whole bed up and down. Usually this option costs an additional $300.00; and Medicare may allow you to pay the difference.
The Flex-A-Bed 3-Motor fully electric high-low Adjustable Bed is an alternative to many people who like the functions of a 3-motor hospital bed; but also like the looks of the Flex-A-Bed and the choices of different sizes and different mattresses.
The Bariatric Bed is available for over 350 pound patient at 42" wide; and for over 650 pounds the 48" wide bed. Transfer Master, Big Boyz and Wheelchairs of Kansas make Full Size 53" wide and Queen size 60" wide heavy duty extra wide beds. Many bariatric beds, including the Burke Bariatric Bed, comes up to 1000 Pound weight capacity. Please contact us for complete information about Bariatric Beds and Bariatric Mattresses. Medicare will cover
a hospital
bed
when you can show a medical necessity for the bed. You must also be covered
under Medicare Part B and have been assessed by your doctor. The doctor must
document your need in your medical records and write you an order (prescription)
for the equipment. Only your doctor cthe equipment for you, so do not order
anything until you have visited your doctor.
The supplier must receive the order before Medicare is billed and it must
be kept on file by the supplier.
To qualify for a
Medicare
Approved hospital bed
you must show that you:
Change positions in ways not possible on a normal bed
Lay or sleep in positions not possible with a normal bed in order to relieve
pain
Have to sleep with the head of the bed higher than 30 degrees because of
conditions such as congestive heart failure, breathing problems, or other
types of problems
Use traction equipment that must be attached to a hospital bed
The above is the basic criteria for coverage for hospital beds.
After you have paid your annual deductible, you will pay 20% of the
Medicare-approved amount for the hospital bed purchase or rental and maintenance.
If you have Medigap/Medicare Supplemental insurance you may have little
to no out-of-pocket cost.
Medicare will basically
pay for a (2) Two motor hospital bed.All we really need in your name, date
of birth, weight, height, Medicare Card Number and Doctor's
Prescription.
Two Motor semi-electric
hospital beds allow you to electrically adjust your back and your legs to
almost any position you desire.Price includes vinyl covered innerspring or
foam mattress and side
rails.
Hospital Beds are usually 36" wide (about 2" less
wide than a standard, twinsize bed) and 80"
long.
84" length is available for those 6'1"
and taller at no additional cost.
If you need an optional Gel Pad for comfort, make sure your Doctor includes
this item on the Medicare Card.
Are not covered by
Medicare.
3-Motor Fully Electric Hospital Beds allow
you to electrically lower and elevate the whole bed up and
down.
This is useful if you are transferring
to a wheelchair; or you are under nurse's care; or you have trouble getting
in and out of bed.
If you wish to pay for the 3rd motor yourself, you have to sign an ABN (Advance
Beneficiary Notice) Form; and agree to pay $300 more out of pocket
expense.
If you wish to pay for an upgrade mattress, you also have to sign an ABN
form agreeing to the additional out-of-pocket expenses.
If you want the deluxe Flex-A-Bed 3-motor hospital bed that looks like a beautiful Adjustable Bed, you also have to sign an ABN form and agree to pay the additional out-of-pocket expenses (usually about $1500 to $3000 more depending on size and model.)
